What is a
lip correction?
Lip augmentation procedures increase the size of the lips to make fuller
and more attractive. Enlarging the lips may be accomplished with surgery
or by injecting the lip with a soft tissue filler (Restylane, Matridex
or Restylane or others) or injection of body fat. The fillers can be
injected in an office procedure to give a fuller look to the vermilion,
which is the visible pink portion of the lips. You may resume normal
activities immediately. Soft tissue fillers usually require repeated
injections.
You and your surgeon will choose the ideal lip augmentation procedure
for you.
Who is a good
candidate for a lip augmentation?
Woman of all ages. Whether you have always had thin lips, or you want
to return your lips to the shape and fullness had when you were younger.
A lip augmentation procedure may provide you a more pronounced mouth
and can open up new possibilities you to change your appearance and
self-image.
Are there
risks involved?
While all surgery carries some risk and plastic surgery is no exception.
Serious complications are infrequent when the lip augmentation is performed
by qualified plastic surgeon. Risk of complications can be minimized
by closely adhering to your surgeon’s advice on follow-up care.
What is a
filling material?
Filling material (Restylane or Reviderm or Matridex) is a crystal-clear,
non animal, biodegradable gel based on a natural substance, called hyaluronic
acid. The hyaluronic acid is naturally present in the body. Hyaluronic
acid material result is instantaneous and produces a long lasting natural
enhancement. It gives natural volume and enlarged your lips.
There is no risk of allergic reaction if you are sensitive to common
foods, such as beef, chicken and eggs. Unlike some other injectable
products for wrinkle treatment and lip enhancement – for example collagen
is made from cow hide.
What is body
fat injection?
The surgery may take one to two hours and is performed under anesthesia.
The concept is simple and convincing at the same time: the fat is drawn
off from those parts of body there plenty of fat has accumulated and
used to enlarge small lips.
The patient can leave the clinic immediately after operation and no
dressing is required. The skin around the injection site will swell,
for which an ice compress the appropriate remedy in many cases.
The body fat will be partly decomposed by the body. For this reason
the treatment must be repeated after some time. Between 50% and 80%
of implanted body fat will, however, survive permanently under all circumstances.
What will
happen during surgery?
A surgery correction of the lip - V-Y lip augmentation is performed
under anesthesia. The operation may take one to two hours. This technique
utilizes your own lip tissue to increase the size of the vermilion.
Incisions are made in the inner aspect of the lip and the inner lip
lining elevated. The elevated lining is reshaped to enhance the lip
contour and then reattached to the lip. You will see a large amount
of swelling of the lip, which could be pronounced for two weeks, improving
and gradually decreasing each day. You are able to return to your daily
activities within 7 to 10 days.
The decision on when to return to work and normal activities depends
on how fast you heal and how you feel. Sports should be avoided for
four weeks.
What is the
fee?
Fees and operative facility costs of lip correction vary widely, depending
on the length, technique and complexity of the operation. Additional
expenses will depend on the anesthesia used, and how long have you been
in a hospital.
